UEDA Member Milestones


Congratulations to Saul Newton, WI Veterans Chamber of Commerce and  Ralph Holman on being named among the 2017 Wisconsin Small Business Award winners!

In recent months, WWBIC has received recognition and top honors from a number of local and national small business champions, including the Small Business Administration's Women’s Business Center of Excellence Award, the SBA's Jody C. Raskind Lender of the Year Award, and the BizTimes Woman Executive of the Year Award will be awarded to WWBIC president, Wendy Bauman. Congratulations!

Associated Bank revealed plans for their new full-service, downtown branch that is anticipated to open in fall  of 2017.

Established to showcase Milwaukee-area entrepreneurs, That Salsa Lady has launched a new way to purchase direct from local businesses through their Community Supported Artisan packages. Order now for the summer!

Forward Community Investments announced Dr. Karen Menendez Coller (Centro Hispano of Dane County) as the first winner of their Nan Cheney March for Justice Award. Learn more about FCI and the award at their upcoming Milwaukee open house.

Four-Part Series - What Happened to Us?
In a new, four-part series titled, “What Happened to Us?” Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reporter, James Causey, reconnects with his third grade class to explore how the experiences of his peers is representative of the region as a whole. The series was developed through the Greater Milwaukee Foundation Fellowship in Public Service Journalism and focuses on impacts of homeownership, incarceration, and job access. Read here >> 

And check out On Point Radio's recent show "Seeing the Real Milwaukee" as part of their OnPoint Listens series. The show featured music by local musicians De La Buena (a Carnival Milwaukee favorite!) and a panel that included James Causey and UEDA Member Martha Barry of the YWCA Southeast Wisconsin.

Reclaiming Vacant Properties Conference 2018
Milwaukee has been selected as the host city for this national conference in 2018! RVP will explore the latest strategies to address vacant, abandoned, and deteriorated properties by delivering learning opportunities through 60+ sessions and highlighting success stories and best practices from around the country. AACCW Names New Director
Ossie Kendrix has been named president and CEO of the African American Chamber of Commerce of Wisconsin, bringing more than 15 years of experience working in the government, public and nonprofit sectors.

 
Website Highlights New Neighborhood Jobs Program
Due to an overwhelmingly positive response, the City of Milwaukee Department of Public works launched an informational website in support of their new Neighborhood Jobs Opportunity Program.

Federal Reserve Seeks Community Council Members
The Federal Reserve Board is accepting applications for their Community Advisory Council through June 5, 2017. CAC members provide a range of perspectives on the needs of consumers and communities, with a particular focus on LMI populations. Details & Application Deadline >>
