What we're working on...

UEDA is currently contracted with the City of Milwaukee to assist with the production of the Five Year HUD Consolidated Plan. On July 11 from 8:00am to 11:00am we will be hosting our first community input session where we invite you to join us to share your input and expertise on community needs, and help shape funding priorities for CDBG and HOME funding.

Throughout the month of June, Take Root Milwaukee and its members hosted a variety of workshops and events in celebration of National Homeownership Month! In partnership with Riverworks Development Corporation, Havenwoods EDC and the YWCA Southeast Wisconsin, Take Root connected over 40 individuals to the resources that can help them start on their path to homeownership. On July 9, our Quarterly member meeting will provide an update from Freddie Mac on their new home renovation product, CHOICERenovation, and from the new director of the Community Insurance Information Center.

Look for a special message from UEDA's Executive Director in July on our work with the City of Milwaukee, other new projects we are excited to be working on this year, our growing staff and more!

An active member of both UEDA and Take Root Milwaukee, Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity believes affordable housing plays a critical role in strong and stable communities. Together with people and businesses in the community, Habitat helps families build and improve homes, one neighborhood at a time.

Their current efforts are focused in Milwaukee's Midtown neighborhood where they will be investing more than $10.3M to build, rehab and repair 100 homes through 2020. You can help support this monumental effort by giving online, sponsoring fundraising events and builds, and by donating
gently used furniture, appliances, kitchen cabinets, and more to their ReStore.
