Giving Thanks....
With Thanksgiving right around the corner, UEDA would like to take a moment to thank our Members and partners for their support over the past year, as well as acknowledge their accomplishments in making our city and state a stronger a more vibrant place to live, work and enjoy. As an intermediary, we have the privilege of seeing and supporting the diverse work that takes place across the community & economic development sector every day. We also know there is always room to grow when it comes to supporting locally owned businesses and retailers.

As we approach the season of giving,
we want to encourage our members to connect with local entrepreneurs and business by exploring platforms like Local First Milwaukee and WWBIC’s Client List
to see that your dollar is kept right here in our local economy. In addition, think of gifting a loan to a Kiva Zip borrower or a Kiva gift card to someone in your life that would appreciate helping an entrepreneur get off the ground or seeing a small business grow.

UEDA would also like to tip our hat to Nelson Solar, Director of the Multicultural Entrepreneurial Institute for putting together this actionable list of ways to shop and support local this season:

- Use a local restaurant as a caterer for your party
- Use a small cleaning company for winter cleaning or post party cleaning
- Winterize your properties with using a small plumbing firm
- Hire a snow plowing service ran and managed by an entrepreneur
- Order your marketing materials or have a small marketing firm plan your event
