Calling all food entrepreneurs! Join us for this informal, around-the-world networking event that will offer the opportunity to talk with FEDN workgroup members, a variety of business resource providers and fellow food-based business entrepreneurs. UEDA’s 14th Annual Community Development Summit Recap
Many thanks to those who joined us on October 21 for Work Future: Building Pathways to Opportunity for Boys & Men of Color. Attendees discussed challenges and suggested new strategies in four areas related to employment outcomes: Networks, 21st Century Skills, Entrepreneurship and Pipelines & Pathways. UEDA Member Milestones

The Water Council and Partners debuted 3 initiatives to accelerate pilot sites, research and entrepreneurship in the water technology industry. More about the initiatives here >>

SEWRPC is hosting their next round of interactive public workshops for VISION 2050 from November 9 through the 19. There will be seven workshops around the Region—one in each county—open to the general public. Find the regional workshop schedule on the VISION 2050 website >>


Charged with overseeing the renaissance of Milwaukee’s West Side, Keith Stanley, Executive Director of Avenues West Association and the new Near West Side Partners, Inc, shares his vision for rejuvenating an area of the city just west of downtown. Read more here >>

WWBIC has awarded funds through the Small Business Administration’s Program for Investment in Micro-Entrepreneurs (PRIME), These organizations help low-income entrepreneurs gain access to capital to establish and expand their small businesses. Read more >>


Congrats to Outpost Natural Foods Co-op on opening their fifth location inside the new Innovation and Wellness Commons. Grand opening of the development is set for Friday, October 30. Read more >>

Streetcar Spur to Lakefront
Milwaukee received $14.2 million through the federal Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) program to cover about half the cost of building a streetcar line to the downtown lakefront. Read more >>


Re-Opening of Milwaukee Art Museum Set

After a year of construction, renovation at the Milwaukee Art Museum is almost complete, with a public re-opening set for November 24.


Push to Increase Hiring of Job Training Program Graduates

Pro Trade Job Development, a training and job creation program for unemployed individuals and ex-offenders, announced their push to secure commitments from area companies to hire graduates of their program. Read more >>


MATC Promise Application Deadline

The deadline for high school seniors to apply for admission to the MATC Promise program is Tuesday, December 1. For more information, including complete eligibility requirements, visit matc.edu/promise

WHEDA Conference 2015
Scheduled for Tuesday, November 17, attendees of this event will network and join sessions covering topics of interest to developers, syndicators, asset managers and property managers.

On October 14 Senator Tammy Baldwin invited local nonprofit organizations to a free event where they were able to meet with representatives from federal agencies, philanthropic organizations, and educational institutions to learn about the grants process and available funding.
